"The majority of art historians are of the opinion that photography had an incredible influence on Degas. In his book entitled Degas, for example, Ian Dunlop called Degas’ paintings of dancers the “forerunners of the glossy photographs of Hollywood stars issued a century later” (Dunlop 117). With these words, Dunlop was referring to the incredible detail Degas was able to capture, and the accurateness of the dancers’ poses, making his paintings so realistic that they look like photographs themselves.
